Freshman Introduction

Welcome to the University of Ulm!

You have decided to study at the University of Ulm and this is the beginning of a new and exciting phase in your life! Since it's always difficult at the beginning, we are here for you to make it as easy as possible for you to get started and to enjoy your studies.

Here you will find all the important information about starting at university. On the respective subpages you can inform yourself about all offers of the StuVe. They will accompany and support you throughout your studies.

You can get tips and tricks from Studis for Studis from the StuVe departments at the beginning of your studies, but also throughout your studies. The BAföG/Sozialreferat could be particularly useful when you start your studies, when you are moving house, when you are financing your studies, etc.

The Studierendenwerk is your contact for a place in a dormitory and will process your BAföG application.

Information about your introduction (ESE)

Before your studies begin officially in the coming semester, the various student associations organise first semester introductions (also called O- or orientation weeks at other universities) for all new students during the week before the official start of the semester. As part of this first semester introduction, or ESE for short, the old stagers of the student body will introduce you to your new life at the university. How does it all work with lectures, exercises or compulsory internships? What portals and accesses are there at Ulm University? What can you do in your spare time at the university and in Ulm? You will receive answers to this question and much, much more during the ESE.

(Almost) every student association organises an ESE, which is specifically tailored to the needs of the respective degree programmes. In the following you will find an overview of all student associations as well as the associated courses of study. On the linked websites you will find dates and the program for your ESE. Many student associations also offer a special ESE for Master Students.
